Functions (How It Works) — Type Z 35W USB-C Charger With iPhone 15 Series

1. Power Delivery (PD) Negotiation

   • The iPhone 15 series uses USB-C for charging, and supports USB Power Delivery (PD). 

   • When you plug the iPhone into the 35W charger, the phone and charger will negotiate via PD; the iPhone will only draw as much power as it needs / supports.

2. Maximum Charging Input for iPhones

   • According to Apple and testing sources, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus draw up to around 20 W for fast charging. For the iPhone 15 Pro / Pro Max, the maximum is higher: some sources / tests suggest they can draw up to ~27 W.

   • Because of this, even though the charger can deliver up to 35 W, the iPhone 15 / Pro will likely not pull the full 35 W — it will limit to what it is designed to handle.

3. Fast Charging Capability

   • With a PD-enabled charger rated ≥ 20 W, you can get the “fast charge” behavior: Apple’s support says you can charge up to ~50% in about 30 minutes with the right adapter.

   • A 35W charger more than meets that requirement, so it’s very capable of enabling fast charging.

4. Safety / Protection

   • Because the iPhone limits how much power it draws, using a higher-wattage charger (like 35 W) is generally safe if the charger is good quality.

   • But quality matters: if the charger is poorly made, lacks good safety / thermal control, or doesn’t properly implement PD, there could be risk (overheating, power instability).

5. Cable Compatibility

   • Because the charger is USB-C and the iPhone 15 uses USB-C, you can use a USB-C ↔ USB-C cable. (No need for lightning here.)

   • Ensure you use a good / certified cable, especially for PD charging, to avoid bottlenecks or safety issues
